History:
Trubador was a hard rock band likely from the midwest, possibly Indiana. Not much is known about the band. They released one album, "Trubador" likely in 1976. It was issued on their own label in a plain white jacket.
The album features covers of heavy rock acts of the time like Ted Nugent, Led Zeppelin, and Santana as well as a few original tracks. The original tracks are credited to David Richter, Paul Adler, and Mark Venit. It's safe to assume that these guys were in the band. David Richter was certainly the group's drummer. Either Venit or Adler was the lead singer and one of them was the lead guitarist. The album is extremely sloppy amateur hard rock with a blues influence. The band members were likely teenagers when this was recorded.
Any info on this group would be appreciated! Feel free to email me.
Trubador (Not On Label, 1976?)
Rating: 4.5/10
Extremely primitive hard rock obviously recorded in someone's basement. Likely intended as a demo as some leftover chatter is present. What I do love here is the low budget fuzzed guitar and ambition of these (probably) teenagers.
Highlights include "Pyle Of Blues", a sloppy twelve bar fuzzfest. "Oye Como Va" is legit 6 mins of fuzz guitar soloing nonsense. "Bombardment" is a three minute drum solo included for some reason. "Conversation Piece" is a nice oddball ballad. Tons of mistakes, off-key singing, bad production. But you can tell these guy had a blast recording this!
